BRIAN HIGGINS
Well today was an interesting day. We didnt get into the hotel until 1 am pst and didnt get settled in and to sleep until about 2 am, but since our bodies were still on New York time it seemed like 5 to us. After a short sleep, we woke up to begin our day in Hollywood. We had a production meeting where we practiced our interviewing skills for the interviews for the days to come. We left the hotel and headed for Paramount Studios in Hollywood. It was fun to pass through Beverly Hills and see a lot of the sites that weve all seen and heard about on TV. The tour at the Paramount Studios was interesting. We learned about the history of the studios and saw many Academy Awards, Golden Globes, and Emmys that the studio has won in its history. At one point we were able to see the big HOLLYWOOD sign on the hill and learnt about its history.
Throughout the tour we saw studios of several television shows including Soul Train and a pilot that will be airing this season. Ive never seen a television studio before so I thought this was interesting. We also learned about how Desi Arnez and Lucille Ball began many insightful production precedents that are still used today.
After we left the studios we walked through Hollywood. It was cool to see all the streets such as Santa Monica Blvd., Hollywood, Vine, and Sunset Boulevard that are famous. We walked a distance along the Hollywood Walk of Fame and then finally arrived at the Chinese Manns Theatre where all the signatures and handprints of so many famous actors. After some sightseeing we returned to eat dinner and retire to our rooms.
Today was a nice relaxing day that I enjoyed. I saw and learnt a lot of things that Ive heard about but never experienced before.
